Celebrity comedian social critics, The Mooney Twins will MC the Young Visionaries Youth leadership (YVYLA) and Inland Cities Black Chamber of Commerce’s (ICBCC) “Equipping Young People to Empower the World;”- The first annual comedy show fundraiser and gala to benefit Inland Empire’s at-risk youth; October 20, 7 P.M.
Perhaps best known for their roles as Kenny Rae and Benny Rae in the 1979 sports/fantasy comedy film “The Fish that Saved Pittsburg,” the Mooney Twins have committed a lifetime to energizing ethnic and inner city communities with resources and progressive information - through humor and laughter.
As social philanthropist, the Mooney Twins enjoy a long list of humanitarian awards and honors that span the 30 years of their careers in comedy and public speaking.
“We’re thrilled to have the Mooney Twins on board for this. This is an important endeavor, who better to MC a comedy drive that benefits at-risk youth, then the gate keepers of conscious comedy,” said Terrance Stone, CEO of YVYLA. “We expect the Mooney Twins and our roster of local comedians to excite our donors into action.”
The revenue generated at the comedy show case - charity drive and gala dinner will fund innovative programs that crack down on violence, teen pregnancy, lifelong poverty, and illiteracy. These programs will continue to keep I.E’s youth off the streets and into valued and useful opportunities that prepare them for fruitful lives.
“This show will be phenomenal, donors should laugh all evening long as they write checks to benefit I.E’s Youth,” said Dwayne Mooney, of the Mooney Twins.
YVYLA is a 501 (c) (6) nonprofit organization that’s served San Bernardino County’s youth since 2001.
